We moved here 7 months ago into the new Cholsey Meadows development. It is really lovely and the whole area has lots to offer. I think the school is okay (although I’m not planning on sending my children 1 and 3 there). They are at a local nursery currently. There are other good village primary schools too, notably Goring. There are lots of activities going on for children and Wallingford is a nice town. I’m still new but if you have any questions let me know!

Laura, thankyou, we are just looking at the moment and the most important thing to me at the moment is schools. It sounds like I should check out the schools in Goring re catchment etc and then start on the property search. My husband will have to drive or train to and from London, do you know if the commute is an easy one, i.e. crammed trains? Straight though service etc? Being slightly lazy but always good to get the info from someone that has experience of it. Nice to know that its a real child friendly area and that you are enjoying it, I presume you were in London before? Anyway any info is great, thanks so much, Clare

Hi Clare, my youngest went to Fir tree Primary in Wallingford after I relocated here from Switzerland. It was a fabulous school and he has great memories and made some good friends. Re Cholsey primary, ive also heard good things about it. Being a village school it tends to be a nice local community for children to grow up in. I’ve vibes in wallingford for 2 urs and Cholseu for 4. Do get in contact if I can help with anything else. Anita.

Hi Claire
Cholsey has a nice primary school, that is very much central to village life, with the usual fetes and school related events going on there.
It has a “good” Ofstead status, and a pre-school on site that is Ofstead “outstanding”.
Not sure about sending your little ones to Goring as it falls into West Berkshire and Cholsey is in South Oxfordshire. There are some very good paid for schools in Molesford, and the surrounding villages and Wallingford town has some good schools also.
Just a tip, if you use Rightmove there is a link within it to all the Ofstead report. It’s how I narrowed down our search when we moved here a couple of years ago. Its below the pictures, there are tabs for floor plans etc, and one is “Schools and Maps”. Tick the Schools and it brings up a link to the recent Ofstead reports.
