The Paragon School in Bath is good for pastoral care and has a prep and senior school, and Monkton Combe is sporty and not too academic, otherwise there’s Kingswood (quite academic), or Westonbirt for girls a bit further away which has Rosehill as its prep. There’s a huge choice of schools around Bath – if you’re looking for state secondaries then I would recommend Sheldon or Hardenhuish in Chippenham which are both on the Bath side of town but probably too far away for you.

Hello.

I know you asked specifically for bath and surrounding areas. Can’t help you with that but if you end up looking in Bristol can definately help there. Away for three weeks now but happy to help on my return if you are interested if it’s not too late for you.

Jo is right about Paragons approach, its part of the Prior Park College foundation and acts as the junior school. It has specialised education programmes for autism spectrum disorder and Aspergers syndrome. It believes education should be fun, the head describes it as not a grey school, but at the same time he emphasises the importance of good behaviour.
If you have daughters The Royal High School in Bath is fantastic, where girls are free to be themselves, whether brandishing blow torches/rowing for gold/ reliving Shakespeare or unravelling algebraic equations. Also the Stonar School near Bath in Melksham girls 2-18 boys 2-7 again they pride themselves on their pastoral care, with superb sporting, music & theatre & renowned equestrian centre.
But quite frankly your best bet is http://www.goodschoolsguide.co.uk where you enter the location and radius and then it comes up with the list and reports on each.
If you would consider weekly boarding Millfield sounds exactly what you are looking for.
