Considering a house here, but concerned about accessibility to buses etc, and just how much of a ‘community’ it is as we know nobody in the immediate area. We are downsizing, our children having left home, so are hoping to meet other people in the same boat … any thoughts please?

two responses so far through twitter….watch this space for more responses!
KateB – Northend is exactly the right sort of place for your poster. There are very regular buses that run into town from the main road (2 mins walk) and an extremely active village community. Ages range from young families to pensioners and all get involved.
@joelle8 Have friends with kids who moved to Batheaston – they met people easily and love it.

Thank you so much for your encouraging responses! KateB, when you say buses on the main road 2 mins walk, the house we are contemplating is up off Eagle Road – is there a main road with buses closer to this than the A4 at the bottom? I do have a bus map of the area, but it’s a bit vague! According to Google there’s a bus on Brow Hill, but we didn’t see any sign of a physical bus stop when we were there … I’d be most grateful for any help! Thank you.

Had a great chat with the Chairman of the Ladies Group in Batheaston. She doesn’t have access to the internet but is very happy to speak to you on the telephone. I will send you a message through our message system with her telephone number.

No buses on Brow Hill which runs through the village, nearest stops are near the car park on the High Street (A4) or slightly shorter walk (but less frequent) from Coalpit Road. Buses are run by First and Faresaver. Active community. Northend is fantastic for fast access to beautiful countryside and into Bath, not so great for shopping (although you’ll have a fantastic farm shop for mainly locally grown veg up a short (but steep) hill from you. Hope this helps.

Thank you so much Debbie – the NOWBath website is really great; I will also send a link to the daughter of a friend who is about to go to Uni in Bath, I’m sure she’ll find it useful too!

another twitter message, its a good place to live there is a community but hard to get into initially….main drawback is the London rd into Bath, very congested during rush hour/weekends but nice place to live if u want countryside & city.
