Elizabeth

I’m orginally from the South and have lived in several towns along the M4 corridor with me regulary travelling into London for business & pleasure! I also had two stints of living in a major world-class city in the Middle East (which I loved!). My career has mostly revolved around property and corporate relocation; moving families to new cities and helping them settle in as best as possible and assisting with cultural awareness.

So now I found myself in West Yorkshire and trying to find all the new places, restuarants, shops etc. I have been here for over 2 years now, so am happy to help with any questions about moving here, or if you need someone to chat to because moving to a new place can really be daunting and lonely (I know!) even hen its what you wanted!

Hi Elizabeth, whereabouts are you? We’re looking at making the big move North later this summer. Currently in SW London but aiming for Leeds before the new school year starts. My main concern about moving is how to integrate my children and husband into a new social set up – I’m from Leeds originally so not so worried about me. Jx

Hi there
I have signed up to this site too as I am also moving to Yorkshire by the end of the year. We are considering wetherby, calverly, roundhay and a few others. Please can you give me your thoughts on these places. I am also worried about moving again as I have 2 small children so any advice is very grateful

Thanks

Hello again…almost exactly a year on. Not sure if anyone will read this, but we took the plunge and moved North. Left Earlsfield in August 2012 (sniff, sniff) and we are now in North Leeds and properly settled in. One child started Year 1 in September and the other is at a nursery within the same school his brother attends. So far so good. Happy to be contacted by people considering moving up here – it does take a bit of adjusting (even if you have networks here already established). Getting used to a new circle of mums (who already know each other) and coping with totally different set ups to those you are used to take time. We are coping pretty well and enjoying a new lifestyle.
